Open Dell QuickSet Folder: Open a Windows Explorer window and navigate to C: Program Files Dell QuickSet which will display content similar to the below which is an image from a Windows 7 64-Bit laptop.
I reinstalled Windows because of a virus, and when I installed it again Dell Quickset wouldn't install. It gives me the error message 'Not a supported system', wether I install it from the CD that came with my laptop, or the download from Dell's website. Not sure how I can fix this, I've tried many different versions of Quickset which all give the same error message. The dell quickset was working on my system before the reinstall, which was installed with the same disk both times.
I've tried reinstalling windows again to try and get it to work. In my system properties ect it says the correct Dell model number of 'Dell Studio 1555'. Anybody know how to get around it? I don't really want to pay dell £139 to attempt to fix it for me, as I can't use any keyboard functions/eject my cd drive without it.
Thanks PS, my bios won't upgrade to the latest version either. I'm currently on A12, and when I try to update to A13, the program stops responding and closes, so if thats relevant or if anybody knows why I'd aprecieciate that too.
I'm experiencing the same issue with my machine (SXPS 1640). I can't comfirm this to be the case, but instead of using an upgrade version of the W7x64 I used last time, I used a full copy.
This is the only thing I've done differently. I will note that the last time I did a clean install was 2/13/09 and the version of the quickest was a prior version to what is available. I wouldn't expect that what installation version of Win7 I use would have any impact on the ability for the software to recognize my machine as a dell unit, which is what the message implies, buy I don't have any other excuse for the inability to load quickset.
Again, I've done clean installs before on this same unit and never had this problem. The only thing that has changed is my having installed a full copy of Win7 rather than installing the dell copy of win vista 64 then upgrading, which is what i did the last time.
